The main treatment goal for children with scoliosis is to maintain function and prevent symptoms in the short- and long-term. Optimal would be to reverse the curvature magnitude, prevent curvature progression, pain, and pulmonary dysfunction (Grivas et al. 2006). Another treatment goal is to develop a new sense of what is straight by practicing holding the correct position. For most patients, the faulty position has become so habitual that the straight position feels abnormal (Kendall et al. 2005).
